Why SRCD Prioritizes Vendor Relationships in Commercial Design

Behind the Process: Inside Venue Industries | MRG Southeast

At SRCD, we believe exceptional commercial environments are not defined by a single product, they are the result of thoughtful collaboration, intentional design, and a deep understanding of how spaces are built and perform over time.

To better understand that process, we recently visited Venue Industries | MRG Southeast for an inside look at both their showroom and production facility. This visit offered a comprehensive view of how commercial furniture is conceived, engineered, and brought to life.

Exploring the Showroom

Our visit began inside the showroom, where we explored a range of products designed to support today’s evolving commercial office environments. From architectural pods and modular seating systems to community tables, dining tables, coffee tables, and collaborative workspace solutions, each piece reflected a careful balance of functionality, flexibility, durability, and elevated design.

Modern lounge with gray sectional, patterned chairs, round wood tables, and decorative vases on a wood floor.

One standout feature was the Echo II Pod — an architectural privacy solution engineered for focus, collaboration, and acoustic performance within open office layouts. Upholstered seating, encapsulated wall panels, refined laminate finishes, and metallic accents demonstrated how thoughtful design can enhance both performance and aesthetics in modern workplaces.

We also explored integrated planter solutions, wood and powder-coated steel finish options, and customizable materials that allow designers and clients to tailor environments to the specific needs of their spaces.

We love the live edge table—bringing natural character and warmth to the space.

We love these upholstered tables—an elegant way to enhance acoustics while adding warmth to the space.

Moving Beyond the Finished Product

While the showroom highlighted the finished environments, the production facility revealed what truly sets quality commercial furniture apart: engineering, craftsmanship, and precision manufacturing.

Inside production, we had the opportunity to see how each piece is carefully constructed from the inside out.

Frames begin with solid 3/4-inch Brazilian plywood components engineered to eliminate weakness at the joints while reinforcing long-term durability in commercial settings. Internal wood reinforcement strips are strategically integrated throughout the structure to establish rigidity and stability under daily use.

We also saw slip seat frame construction designed for easier maintenance access, allowing cushions to be removed for repair or recovering without dismantling the full booth — an important feature for long-term commercial performance and serviceability.

Additional production details included magnet-integrated wood frames using precision-routed dado construction for seamless alignment, layered foam systems that enhance comfort and upholstery consistency, and multiple channel upholstery techniques ranging from pre-stitched stretched vinyl to individually hand-tufted leather applications.

Upon completion, each piece moved into final finishing, inspection, packaging, and shipment preparation.

Why Vendor Relationships Matter

At SRCD, we believe it’s important to truly know the vendors we work with — not just the finished products they offer, but also the manufacturing process, engineering standards, craftsmanship, and people behind the work.

These relationships allow us to confidently specify products that support long-term performance, maintenance efficiency, durability, and elevated workplace design for our clients.

Understanding how products are built helps us make better decisions for the spaces we create.
